Walk for Peace 10K
Saturday, February 7
Madison for a World BEYOND War invites you to walk with us on frozen Lake Mendota! We will walk between Tenney Beach, the Frozen Assets Festival, UW Winter Carnival & Picnic Point. As the Buddhist Walk for Peace finishes their 2,300 mile journey from Texas to DC, and the Trump administration has just bypassed Congress to send another $6 billion of weapons to Israel, we will walk here in Madison to call for war abolition.
Why We Walk:
Stop arming Israel, Ukraine, the rest of the world & law enforcement officers in the US
Governments should not kill people
Close military bases & abolish war
Walk for all or any part. The lake is magnificent now. Ice is 10+ inches thick. Partly sunny & high of 26° on Saturday.
Wear snow pants, lots of warm layers, hat & scarf. There is snow on top of the ice, but in some places it’s bare ice, so boots with grippy tread or yaktrax recommended.
Register if you can, or just show up.
Schedule:
10:00 am - Tenney Beach
10:30 - Giddings Park
11:00 - James Madison Park

Indivisible Portage: Stand with Minnesota
Last week, we had 100 people show up for our first event. People were fired up and wanted to show how they feel about what's happening in Minnesota and the rest of the country.
Please join us again and bring your signs; we will have a few to loan, but we definitely did not have enough for everyone who showed up last week! Parking at the park is limited, so please park on nearby side streets.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Waunakee Weekly Rally for Democracy and Free Speech
https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/877433/
We continue our rallies in 2026. It’s important and invigorating to make a statement in our community of what we stand for. We hope you will join us! Sign up and bring your friends!
Join the Waunakee Democracy and Free Speech rally, where WE THE PEOPLE gather in a peaceful and family-friendly manner to stand for our shared American values in the rules and laws of our democracy. We rally against the MAGA regime’s unconstitutional actions.
While its getting cold, we all agreed to continue... We must stop the harmful actions that threaten our families, communities, and nation. Take a stand for protecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Federal agencies, National parks, the Free press, Judicial systems, Educational institutions, the Environment, Equity/Diversity/Inclusion, US Aid, Immigrant rights, and more...
Gather with our community Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at the Waunakee Village Park (HW 19) near the 6 mile creek bridge and Village Waterworks Building. Parking is available in park. Sometimes we may have hot chocolate and snacks or go afterwards to a local cafe to warm up.
Bring signs that let others know what matters to you. Some signs are available for use. Dress for the Weather and bring your calendars so we can plan future events. We are joining Mazomanie, Middleton and many other communities in holding similar events to Rally for Democracy!
